I’ve been a Linux administrator for about five years. People always ask me how to switch from Windows to Linux. Only a few books on the market that do this, and this is just hands down better. Every detail you need is explained well. There are plenty of photos so you can make sure you’re doing something right. Everything from installation, run a web server is covered.

If you want to learn Linux or switch from Windows to Linux simply can not do a better book. I was so happy with this book that I emailed the author to thank you for writing this!

I just finished this book and I must say I’m impressed. This book gives a step by step, the Windows user to Linux. They give you the basics of Linux system operaring, history, how to install, etc. But above all, in my opinion, the author shows how to do practical things with Linux. He shows how to use Open Office, Gimp, and many other programs. If you use Windows, and want to know what to do with Linux, this is simply the best book you can get. I encourage you to do it now.

I found this book in particular is very easy to follow, accurate, informative and useful in general. I am not a computer professional by profession, and my only experience was with Windows. But, like many people was quite frustrated with Windows and wanted to try Linux. With this book I had the opportunity to install Linux and use it to do all the things he had done with Windows.

  5. This book does a good job of doing exactly what the title says it would. I bought this because in the work of our company has always lived in a Wintel world. But we have acquired another company that has focused on Linux and Windows it is clear that people needed a crash course in Linux. I needed some exposure to Linux guide and a way to cut my learning curve to be able to understand how to move their operations on Windows than Linux. This book shortened my learning curve as good as the network is to provide information to us for free. Sometimes I like curls with a good book.
